March 2011 marks the 2nd quarter year of my serious attempt to become a profitable poker player in both online cash game and tournament play. Overall, I feel that my game is far better than it was when I started this journey in December. I've been studying a great deal of information from various poker experts.
The majority of my training is done at pokervt.com. From what I can gather, the membership base is far smaller than most of the other online poker training sites, however, the content, and members, and the resident pros are happy to help out by answering questions and reviewing tough spots.
Additional material I'm studying and or have completed includes:
Treat Your Poker Like a Business - Dusty Schmidt
Poker Math That Matters - Owen "Qtip" Gaines
Don't Listen To Phil Helmuth - Dusty Schmidt & Paul Christopher Hoppe
Elements of Poker - Tommy Angelo
In a nutshell, Lot's to study, lot's to learn, and not enough time to get where I want to be as quickly as I'd like to be there.
The thing I am most satisfied with to date is my ability to sit down for longer sessions while maintaining focus in addition to keeping my composure when I get busted making a bonehead play, get issues a bad beat, etc. Most of my mistakes are made on turn and river play at this point. I guess that's pretty common for beginners in general.
Till next time,
Peace.
